Nearly all of the core materials used in our cabinetry construction are from managed or ‘farm’-harvested woods. Using sustainable materials such as white pine and poplar from plantations in North America and elsewhere helps to preserve native forests and provides living wage jobs to families in these economies.

When customers select exotic wood species, we will ensure from our suppliers that these materials are being selected of the highest grade from domestic sources first; and when not available domestically they are chosen from third party suppliers overseas who adhere to sustainable growth and harvest programs.

We purchase our Hardwood Lumber from members of the HARDWOOD LUMBER ASSOCIATION®. The HLA actively combats destructive illegal logging and harvesting worldwide through local lobbying and legislation. Currently they are actively pressuring the European Union to adhere to the LACEY ACT and other pro-fish and wildlife measures.

The adhesives used in our plant and in the field are some of the most advanced and environmentally and health friendly in the Business. Using formaldehyde free and water-based drying agents they comply with the most stringent regulations in the nation. Although other products are cheaper and more readily available, Signature Cabinets commitment to ‘Buil-Green’ is stead-fast. We won’t cut corners or withdraw from that aim

Signature Cabinets is licensed, permitted and in compliance with the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. On a daily basis our master finishers monitor our performance and comply fully with the Washington State Clean Air Act. Our facility is inspected annually, and has been violation free for over three years. In fact, through our exclusive ‘Minimizer’ program we recycle nearly 100 percent of our stain and finishing by-products and excess; Reusing the vast majority of this product without adding deadly materials to our landfills.

The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency and the EPA consider us a ‘low-quantity’ generator of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS). This is the best rating for a commercial year-round manufacturer in our class.

Our in-house finishing facility employs only experienced journey-level and master finishers who test and use products which are safer for the environment. We are continuously working with our vendors to explore safer-materials without compromising the quality demanded by our customers.

Signature Cabinets Recycles all inbound and outgoing packaging cardboard through a program with Waste Management Northwest.

Signature Cabinets Recycles all metals and appliances with local resellers of used appliances and metal salvage and recyclers. No profit is made from this service.

Signature Cabinets has a commitment to local schools. We provide hardwood materials at no charge for the industrial arts program at Canyon Creek Junior High, and we are in our fourth year of participation in the Northshore School District ‘Construction Academy’. Through this program; Signature Cabinets employs a high-school senior student intern (with pay) to gain hands-on experience in the woodworking industry. The Construction Academy was last years’ GOLDEN APPLE award winner from the Associated General Contractors, Pemco Insurance and the Washington State Legislature. We are the only cabinet company selected for membership.

Finally, Signature Cabinets mission is to provide our customers with the highest-quality product in a time-sensitive manner. We use lean manufacturing and JIT techniques and optimization programs throughout our processes, thereby limiting the possibility of excessive waste directed to our local landfills and the corresponding harm this may cause to fish, wildlife and the environment.
